Yext Jumps as AI Search Strategy Starts to Click for YEXT Investors

Yext (YEXT +1%) gapped sharply higher at the open, although has pulled back from its highs following its Q2 (Jul) earnings report this morning. Investors are looking past a modest decline in revenue and instead focusing on the company's improving mix, profitability, and positioning for the AI search transition. Yext, which provides software that helps brands manage their digital presence, structured data and customer discovery across traditional search engines and AI search, reported EPS above the single analyst estimate, while revenue declined 1.8% yr/yr to $111.1 mln, in-line with expectations. We think the more important development is Yext's continued shift toward larger, more profitable enterprise customers, which is consistent with the strategic plan outlined in June calling for continued growth in its large-customer cohort and adjusted EBITDA margins approaching 30% throughout the year.

  • Enterprise mix: Yext said Q2 results reflect the continued shift toward larger, more profitable enterprise customers. The strategy is allowing the company to prioritize higher-quality revenue and profitability rather than simply pursuing top-line growth, with management targeting continued expansion in its large-customer cohort while building adjusted EBITDA margins toward 30%.
  • Profitability: Adjusted EBITDA increased 29% yr/yr to $34 mln, with adjusted EBITDA margin expanding sharply to 31% from 23%. The margin improvement is particularly notable given the modest revenue decline and suggests Yext is gaining meaningful operating leverage as it moves toward a more enterprise-focused business model.
  • AI search: Yext is increasingly positioning itself as an infrastructure layer for brands navigating the transition from traditional search toward AI-powered discovery. Its structured data platform helps enterprises maintain accurate information across thousands of digital endpoints, while Yext Scout provides competitive intelligence designed to help brands understand and improve their visibility across AI and traditional search.
  • GoShine acquisition: Yext acquired GoShine in June, adding technology that identifies what prevents brands from appearing in AI-generated answers, produces optimized content designed to improve visibility, and measures performance over time. GoShine has now been integrated into Yext as Brand Scout.

Briefing.com Analyst Insight

Yext delivered a solid quarter that reinforces the strategic transition investors have increasingly begun to recognize over the past several months. While the 1.8% revenue decline highlights that the legacy business remains challenged, the combination of accelerating enterprise mix and significant margin expansion is changing the earnings profile of the company. Adjusted EBITDA growth of 29% and a 31% margin in Q2 demonstrate that Yext can generate substantially more profitability even without meaningful top-line growth. The stock was under pressure through much of 1H26, but began trending higher in late June as investors shifted from viewing Yext primarily as a mature listings and search-management company toward viewing it as an emerging enterprise Agentic Marketing platform. Today's sharp move higher suggests that this narrative shift is gaining further traction.
