Ceva Lands NeuPro-M Licensing Win, Expanding Reach Into Custom AI Silicon (CEVA)

Ceva (CEVA) is trading sharply higher after an unnamed major U.S. software and AI platform company selected NeuPro-M as the NPU foundation for a custom AI silicon program targeting next-generation intelligent computing devices. CEVA will license the processor architecture and supporting software that the customer will embed in its own chip, with management calling it one of the most strategically significant AI agreements in company history.

  • Why this deal stands out: The customer is described as a major U.S. software and AI platform company, and the program targets next-generation intelligent computing devices, suggesting CEVA is gaining relevance with customers seeking OS-to-silicon optimization rather than only traditional chip IP buyers.
  • AI strategy: CEVA has been expanding beyond discrete IP blocks toward more integrated, system-level solutions that combine processor IP and software. Management recently highlighted a complete NPU portfolio, a unified software stack, and multiple AI evaluations and advanced negotiations across several end markets.
  • Revenue backdrop: CEVA reported Q1 revenue of $27.0 mln on May 11, up 11.6% yr/yr, and adjusted EPS of $0.04, with both ahead of expectations. Licensing and related revenue increased 18% to $17.8 mln, its highest level in three years, while AI represented more than 20% of licensing revenue. CEVA signed 14 licensing agreements during the quarter, including two AI deals.
  • On-device AI demand: NeuPro-M is designed to accelerate AI inference directly on a device while operating within tight power, chip-area, and thermal constraints. It supports generative, multimodal, agentic, and other machine-learning workloads as AI processing becomes increasingly distributed across edge devices and the cloud.

Briefing.com Analyst Insight

Today's win brings together two important parts of CEVA's strategy, including its move toward higher-value, integrated silicon-and-software engagements and its effort to reach a new class of customers developing proprietary AI chips. It also reinforces the opportunity created as software-platform companies seek greater control over AI performance, power efficiency, and hardware-software integration, which could expand CEVA's addressable market beyond traditional semiconductor customers. CEVA did not disclose the customer, contract value, production timing, or expected shipment volumes, leaving the near-term financial contribution difficult to quantify. Additional platform-company wins, continued AI licensing momentum, and signs that recent designs are progressing toward production could provide greater visibility into CEVA's longer-term royalty and earnings opportunity.
