Penguin Solutions Jumps on Beat-and-Raise as AI Infrastructure Growth Accelerates (PENG)

Penguin Solutions (PENG) is sharply higher after a strong beat-and-raise Q4 (Aug) report last night. EPS of $1.00 was nicely above expectations, while revenue jumped 67.7% yr/yr to $566.7 mln, also well above expectations. Encouragingly, PENG also raised its FY27 outlook sharply, now expecting revenue growth of approximately 40% at the midpoint to roughly $2.43 bln and EPS of approximately $4.45, both above expectations, as its Memory business remains strong and AI Infrastructure continues to accelerate.

  • Results continue to be fueled by rising AI and inference demand across the data center stack. Management noted that GPUs remain critical, but CPUs and conventional memory, including DRAM, must also scale as inference workloads expand. PENG believes it is well positioned at the intersection of AI infrastructure and memory, with non-hyperscale AI infrastructure and Integrated Memory representing 78% of Q4 sales and growing 141% yr/yr. Integrated Memory alone reached a record $341 mln, up 158% yr/yr and 24% sequentially.
  • Advanced Computing grew 11% yr/yr to $154 mln, but underlying AI Infrastructure growth was much stronger. Non-hyperscale AI infrastructure revenue jumped 99% yr/yr and represented 66% of Advanced Computing sales, up from 60% a year ago, more than offsetting continued runoff in traditional businesses. PENG also added six new AI infrastructure customers in Q4, including four neoclouds.
  • The accelerating growth is also driving meaningful operating leverage. Q4 operating margin expanded 420 bps yr/yr to 15.8%, while operating income more than doubled. That leverage is expected to continue in FY27, with EPS growth of approximately 55% at the midpoint expected to outpace revenue growth of roughly 40%.
  • Backlog and bookings also provide stronger visibility into FY27. AI Infrastructure and Integrated Memory bookings grew faster than sales in Q4, helping PENG exit FY26 with record company backlog. Memory backlog now exceeds quarterly revenue and extends at least four quarters, while stronger AI Infrastructure bookings supported the sharp increase in Advanced Computing's FY27 growth outlook.

Briefing.com Analyst Insight

Overall, PENG's Q4 results reinforce that its AI Factory Platform strategy is gaining traction, with strong Integrated Memory demand increasingly complemented by accelerating AI Infrastructure growth. More notably, the sharp increase in its FY27 outlook, stronger-than-expected bookings and record backlog all point to a robust demand environment entering the new fiscal year, while continued operating leverage is allowing earnings to grow faster than sales. Shares are also extending their strong 2026 run today and moving back toward the all-time high reached in July.
