- The FY28 outlook implies approximately 67% total revenue growth and 80% data-center growth, with data-center revenue reaching roughly $18 bln - a milestone previously targeted for FY29. Achieving that target almost a year early strengthens the case that AI infrastructure demand is exceeding prior expectations.
- Management raised its FY29 custom revenue target from more than $10 bln to over $12 bln, primarily driven by XPU-attach products spanning networking, storage, memory, security and inference acceleration. Google’s (GOOG/GOOGL) strategic agreement represents a $120 bln opportunity over six-and-a-half years, separate from existing connectivity business, but should not be viewed as guaranteed revenue.
- Accelerating scale-out optics, emerging scale-up optics and switching underpin the $2 bln FY28 increase. Scale-up optics contributes virtually no revenue today, with strong growth expected next year through near-package and co-packaged optics, while the ongoing 1.6T transition and subsequent 3.2T products provide additional opportunities.
- The $80 bln FY31 midpoint comprises $37.5 bln in interconnect, $30 bln in custom, $10 bln in switching and storage, and $2.5 bln in communications and other. The framework assumes approximately $3 trillion in annual data-center capital spending by CY30, with spending growth moderating in later years.
- Management says existing customer positions and programs support the framework without requiring new major customer wins or sockets. More than 35 sockets across the four largest U.S. hyperscalers, five-year supplier forecasts and investments to reserve capacity support that argument, although product diversification does not eliminate customer concentration.

MRVL’s strongest message is that connectivity is becoming a larger constraint on AI performance, creating opportunities across competing compute architectures and extending its growth beyond individual accelerator programs. The nearer-term upgrade carries particular weight because established optics and switching franchises are driving it, while the FY31 framework layers emerging scale-up products onto existing customer relationships. Nevertheless, reaching the longer-term targets requires sustained hyperscaler investment, timely production ramps and substantial manufacturing capacity, leaving the outlook sensitive to deployment delays and spending changes. The next essential piece is the financial model: revenue growth must translate into operating leverage and cash generation, with product mix, development spending and capacity commitments determining how much incremental sales ultimately reach earnings.
