Apogee Enterprises Jumps on Big Beat-and-Raise Q2 (APOG)

Apogee Enterprises (APOG) is sharply higher after delivering a strong Q2 beat and raising its FY27 outlook. Q2 (Aug) adjusted EPS of $1.17 was well above expectations, while revenue increased 9.2% yr/yr to $391.1 mln. Following a stronger-than-expected first half, APOG raised FY27 adjusted EPS guidance to $3.00-3.40 from $2.70-3.25 and revenue guidance to $1.46-1.50 bln from $1.38-1.43 bln.

  • Underlying execution remained strong despite an uneven demand backdrop, with adjusted EBITDA margin expanding to 12.7% from 12.4%. Favorable pricing, productivity improvements, Fortify Phase 2 savings and Kalwall helped offset higher material and manufacturing costs and lower volume.
  • Services continued to provide steady growth and visibility, posting its tenth consecutive quarter of sales growth as revenue increased nearly 8%. Backlog reached $833 mln, up 5% yr/yr and 13% sequentially, as project awards remained strong despite a competitive environment.
  • Glass remains the main area of softness, but execution improved materially, with adjusted EBITDA margin rising to 14.9% from 8.7% in Q1. End-market conditions remain pressured by fewer projects, lower volumes and project delays, though improving order rates, productivity and tighter cost controls supported the sequential improvement.
  • Recent acquisitions are also improving APOG's growth and profitability mix. Kalwall remains on track to deliver approximately $85 mln of first-year revenue at a 15% adjusted EBITDA margin, while recently acquired Groglass is expected to contribute roughly $30 mln at a 25% margin. Management expects their FY27 EPS contribution to remain modest.

Briefing.com Analyst Insight

APOG's Q2 results showed continued progress despite ongoing softness in parts of the underlying market. Pricing, productivity and Fortify savings helped offset lower volume and higher costs, while Services continued to grow and Glass showed a meaningful sequential margin improvement. Kalwall is also performing to plan, and the addition of Groglass further shifts the portfolio toward higher-value, higher-margin businesses. The raised FY27 outlook reflects both stronger first-half execution and added revenue from recent acquisitions, with those improvements giving management more confidence in the earnings trajectory despite still-mixed end markets.
