Bristol-Myers rises as dual Phase 3 wins strengthen growth pipeline (BMY)
Bristol Myers Squibb (BMY) is trading higher after positive Phase 3 readouts for RYZ101 and admilparant strengthened two differentiated growth opportunities as the company prepares for further legacy-product erosion. The results support regulatory discussions, but undisclosed treatment-effect sizes, an unsuccessful higher-dose admilparant arm, and uncertain filing and launch timelines leave important questions about their commercial contribution.
  • RYZ101: A planned interim analysis of ACTION-1 demonstrated statistically significant and clinically meaningful progression-free survival improvement, assessed by blinded independent central review, in SSTR-positive gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors progressing after Lu177-based therapy. The comparator included somatostatin analogues, everolimus, or sunitinib, and safety was consistent with RYZ101’s known profile.
  • Radiopharmaceutical differentiation: RYZ101 delivers the alpha-emitting isotope actinium-225 to targeted tumors, offering a different radiation approach for patients with limited options after prior treatment. The result provides clinical support for the lead asset acquired through BMY’s approximately $4.1 bln RayzeBio purchase, although investment returns remain unproven.
  • Admilparant: The oral LPA1 antagonist’s 60 mg twice-daily dose met ALOFT-IPF’s primary endpoint, demonstrating slower lung-function decline versus placebo based on forced vital capacity from baseline to Week 52. This does not establish improvement from baseline. The 120 mg dose also slowed decline but missed statistical significance, making detailed dose-response findings important.
  • Safety and regulatory path: Admilparant showed favorable tolerability at both doses, with adverse-event discontinuations low and similar to placebo. BMY plans comprehensive data review and health-authority engagement supporting submissions, while RYZ101 will advance to FDA discussions. Neither program has a disclosed filing date, and RYZ101 overall-survival follow-up continues.
  • Next milestones: Detailed results for both programs are expected at future medical meetings. Admilparant’s fully enrolled ALOFT-PPF trial should report in early 2027, potentially extending its opportunity beyond idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Briefing.com Analyst Insight

The readouts strengthen BMYs’ options for replacing aging revenue streams through differentiated oncology and fibrosis treatments, alongside its expanding commercial Growth Portfolio. Their financial value depends on the magnitude of benefit, competitive positioning, and timing of approvals and adoption, rather than statistical success alone. RYZ101’s PFS durability and eventual survival findings will inform its positioning, while admilparant’s divergent dose results warrant scrutiny of efficacy consistency. Neither announcement establishes an immediate FY26 earnings benefit or sufficient revenue to offset FY27 erosion. Manufacturing readiness, reimbursement, and launch execution remain essential to converting clinical progress into durable growth.
