[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.12%) is down about 31 points this afternoon.

Gold futures settled $37.60 lower (-0.8%) at $4,439.00/oz, as elevated Treasury yields and inflation concerns pressured the non-yielding metal, while strong U.S. jobs data boosted expectations that the Federal Reserve could keep monetary policy restrictive. Investors are also awaiting upcoming PPI and CPI data for further clues on the interest rate outlook.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is down less than -0.1% to $98.87.
