[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.2%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.3%), and DJIA (-0.3%) have made a sharp move off their session lows following a Reuters report that the U.S. and Iran are discussing a "phased reopening" to the Strait of Hormuz.

Crude oil has trimmed its gain for the day, currently up $2.40 (+2.6%) to $94.51 per barrel. The spike briefly pushed the S&P 500 above its unchanged level, though the major averages have since moved slightly lower.
