[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (+0.41%) is in last place among the major averages, up about 106 points ahead of the Fed's September Beige Book which is due for release at the top of hour.
Gold futures settled $18.20 higher (+0.4%) at $4,414.60/oz, as a softer U.S. dollar and easing Treasury yields helped support demand for the precious metal. Investors also weighed fresh economic data and looked ahead to Friday's August jobs report for additional clues on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is down -0.1% to $99.57.
