Airlines higher after President Trump meets with travel executives
Dow +251.36 at 53018.24, Nasdaq +87.63 at 26208.46, S&P +32.99 at 7664.46

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.4%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.3%), and DJIA (+0.5%) remain modestly higher as the market enters the final hour of the session.

Airline stocks are among today's outperformers following President Trump's event with airline and travel executives. President Trump said most Iranian missiles targeting Gulf states were intercepted, with others landing in remote areas, while also noting that he raised concerns about "price gouging" with oil executives. American Airlines (AAL 13.17, +0.22, +1.70%) CEO Robert Isom also struck a positive tone on the travel outlook, saying the airline expects a record Labor Day weekend for travel while praising investments made under Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Duffy, meanwhile, said the nation's air traffic control systems will be modernized.

Delta Air Lines (DAL 78.19, +1.81, +2.37%) and United Airlines (UAL 108.98, +4.35, +4.16%) also hold solid gains. However, the industrials sector (-0.1%) is one of just two S&P 500 sectors that trade lower, with particular weakness across aerospace and defense names sending the iShares DJ Aerospace (ITA 223.19, -2.27, -1.01%) lower.
