Apple trades higher amid CEO transition
Dow -208.34 at 52977.56, Nasdaq -200.47 at 26191.47, S&P -35.45 at 7650.69

[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to trade lower, though they remain improved from their opening levels.

The information technology sector (-0.8%) has improved from its early worst levels, with Apple (AAPL 324.17, +7.32, +2.31%) offsetting some of the weakness across semiconductor names. Apple is up 2.6% as John Ternus officially takes over as CEO today, succeeding longtime chief Tim Cook, who will remain with the company as executive chairman. Investors are hopeful that Ternus, who previously served as SVP of Hardware Engineering, can help usher in a new product and innovation cycle as Apple looks to accelerate its AI capabilities and expand into new hardware categories, including its upcoming foldable iPhone
