[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.1%), and DJIA (-0.5%) sit mixed near their baselines amid a relatively subdued session for stocks so far today.
There are plenty of notable earnings-related moves and some choppiness at the sector level, though none of it has been substantial enough to provide the market with a clear directional catalyst. In particular, the information technology sector (+0.3%) is one of the best-performing sectors as Sandisk (SNDK 1316.61, -33.89, -2.51%) and Western Digital (WDC 473.23, -45.94, -8.85%) continue to improve from sharp losses that followed their respective earnings reports yesterday afternoon. The PHLX Semiconductor Index is now up 1.9%.
AppLovin (APP 333.79, -84.01, -20.11%) and Datadog (DDOG 239.84, -43.33, -15.30%) 241.48, -41.69, -14.72%) face steeper losses after their own earnings, weighing on the iShares GS Software ETF (IGV 99.06, -2.26, -2.23%), though another solid showing from Microsoft (MSFT 494.71, +7.25, +1.49%) helps offset that weakness.
The energy sector (+1.1%) is the only other S&P 500 sector that holds a gain as crude oil moves $1.83 (+2.5%) higher to $77.03 per barrel. The market is still awaiting an official peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran. Losses in the broader market are modest, limited to 0.6% or narrower.
Outside the S&P 500, the Russell 2000 (+0.2%) and S&P Mid Cap 400 (+0.4%) hold modest gains.
