The preliminary Q2 unit labor cost reading registered at 1.3% (Briefing.com consensus 1.7%), from the downwardly revised Q1 reading of 1.3% (from 1.8%).
Initial jobless claims for the week ending August 1 increased by 1,000 to 199,000 (Briefing.com consensus: 200,000) from the upwardly revised prior level of 198,000 (from 197,000).
Continuing jobless claims for the week ending July 25 increased by 24,000 to 1.801 million from the downwardly revised prior level of 1.777 million (from 1.782 million).
