[BRIEFING.COM] The Nasdaq Composite (-0.15%) is in second place on Wednesday afternoon, down about 39 points.
Gold futures settled $41.20 lower (-0.9%) at $4,653.30/oz, as hotter-than-expected U.S. inflation boosted expectations for higher-for-longer interest rates. A stronger dollar and uncertainty over Fed policy ahead of Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole remarks also weighed on the non-yielding metal.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is now about +0.3% higher to $99.17.
