[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages remain mixed, with the DJIA (-0.5%) beginning to lag.
The consumer discretionary sector is underperforming amid weakness across apparel and homebuilder names. NIKE (NKE 39.50, -1.23, -3.02%) is a notable laggard, falling to its lowest level since late 2014 and contributing to the DJIA's (-0.5%) steady move below its flatline.
Homebuilders are also under pressure as longer-dated Treasury yields climb, with the 30-year yield reaching a fresh 19-year high. The iShares U.S. Home Construction ETF (ITB 97.86, -0.92, -0.93%) has slipped back below both its 50-day (98.28) and 200-day (98.69) moving averages. Renewed geopolitical uncertainty is also in the mix as the 60-day ceasefire agreement between the U.S. and Iran expires today.
