There wasn't a news driver for the recovery. Rather, it was just a renewed round of buying interest that happened to coincide with a dip in the 10-yr note yield from 4.68% to 4.66%.
The information technology sector (+5.0%), which has a 36% weight in the S&P 500, is doing the driving.
