Gold Falls Nearly 1% as Fed, PCE Inflation Data Keep Investors Cautious
Dow +592.03 at 52802.11, Nasdaq -35.14 at 24917.95, S&P +19.58 at 7432.76

[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.14%) is in last place on Tuesday afternoon, down about 35 points.

Gold futures settled $38.30 lower (-0.9%) at $4,038.70/oz, as a stronger U.S. dollar weighed on demand and investors remained cautious ahead of this week's Federal Reserve policy decision. Traders are also looking ahead to Thursday's PCE inflation report for further clues on the interest rate outlook, which pressured demand for the non-yielding metal.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is down about -0.1% to $101.40.
