Dow +78.20 at 52302.84, Nasdaq -81.11 at 25777.10, S&P +0.78 at 7509.98

[BRIEFING.COM] With about two hours to go on Wednesday the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.31%) is in last place, down about 81 points.

Gold futures settled $75.50 higher (+1.9%) at $4,151.90/oz, as a weaker U.S. dollar boosted demand and investors sought safe-haven assets amid escalating Middle East tensions. Traders also looked ahead to next week's Federal Reserve meeting for clues on the interest rate outlook, providing additional support for bullion.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is down less than -0.1% to $101.15.
