Solid rebound effort from yesterday's lows

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.8%), Nasdaq Composite (+1.3%), and DJIA (+0.6%) are rebounding nicely from yesterday's lower finish.

Semiconductor stocks are once again driving the early advance, though today's gains are considerably wider than those seen yesterday morning, which ultimately faded by the close. The PHLX Semiconductor Index is up 5.0%, with Teradyne (TER 375.48, +41.72, +12.50%) leading the advance while a host of memory names also sport double-digit gains. The information technology sector is up 2.0%.

Meanwhile, the broader market is mostly higher, with eight S&P 500 sectors trading in positive territory.

The energy sector (+0.7%) is among the leaders as WTI crude oil rises $1.82 (+2.2%) to $84.34 per barrel. However, the strength elsewhere in the market appears more reflective of a broad rebound from yesterday afternoon's selloff than a move driven by inflation concerns or higher oil prices.

To that end, the Russell 2000 (+0.8%) and S&P Mid Cap 400 (+0.5%) are also posting solid gains.
