[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (+1.43%) is firmly atop the major averages this afternoon, higher by more than 364 points.
Gold futures settled $60.50 higher (+1.5%) at $4,076.40/oz, as easing oil prices and softer inflation concerns strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve could begin cutting interest rates later this year. Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and steady central bank demand also supported safe-haven buying.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is up just shy of +0.2% to $101.12.
