[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.2%), and DJIA (-0.6%) are near their worst levels as the market enters the final hour of the session. The downturn comes without a clear news catalyst, but has seen some money taken out of several of today's market leaders.

Alphabet (GOOG 350.96, +4.84, +1.40%) remains a "Magnificent Seven" standout, but has given back over half of its earlier gain that followed this morning's report from The Information detailing a new "frozen" AI chip that Alphabet aims to introduce.

Meanwhile, semiconductor stocks have also given back a chunk of their earlier strength, with the PHLX Semiconductor Index up 1.3%. Politico reporter Sophia Cai said There was a brief discussion about this recently, but the Commerce Department is not moving forward on banning Chinese AI models at this time, per a person familiar."
