Gold Slips as Stronger Dollar, Higher Yields Offset Safe-Haven Demand
Dow -185.38 at 51961.04, Nasdaq +115.24 at 25656.49, S&P +12.64 at 7470.33

[BRIEFING.COM] With about two hours to go on Monday afternoon, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (+0.45%) holds a decent lead atop the averages, up more than 115 points.

Gold futures settled $2.90 lower (-0.1%) at $4,015.90/oz, as a stronger U.S. dollar and higher Treasury yields offset safe-haven demand tied to escalating U.S.-Iran tensions and rising oil prices. Investors also weighed the possibility of the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates higher for longer as persistent energy-driven inflation pressures could delay policy easing.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is higher by about +0.2% to $100.96.
