Dow -405.35 at 50902.44, Nasdaq -217.43 at 26897.47, S&P -38.09 at 7571.69

[BRIEFING.COM] With about two hours to go on Wednesday the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.80%) is underperforming, down about 217 points.

Gold futures settled $53.00 lower (-1.2%) at $4,466.90/oz, as rising Treasury yields and a stronger U.S. dollar pressured bullion prices. Investors also weighed the inflationary impact of higher oil prices and growing expectations that the Federal Reserve could keep interest rates elevated for longer.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Dollar Index is about +0.3% higher to $99.53.
