[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.2%), Nasdaq Composite (-0.7%), and DJIA (+0.4%) now sit mostly lower as the market enters the final hour of the session.
Losses have widened across semiconductor names, sending the PHLX Semiconductor Index (-2.1%) to its worst levels of the session. The information technology sector (-1.4%) is now firmly lower after spending the bulk of the session near its flatline.
The communication services sector (-0.9%) is also lagging, pressured by weakness in its largest component, Alphabet (GOOG 342.87, -3.21, -0.93%). Bloomberg reported that two additional artificial intelligence researchers have left the company to join Anthropic, extending concerns that surfaced Monday after top Google DeepMind engineering executive John Jumper made the same move.
