Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to sit mixed at midday.

Despite general weakness in the information technology sector (-1.0%), Apple (AAPL 311.58, +3.25, +1.05%) has traded to a new all-time high today. The stock is one of the better-performing "magnificent seven" names both today and for the month of May, surging nearly 15% month-to-date.

Only Tesla (TSLA 440.44, +6.84, +1.58%) holds a wider month-to-date gain across the group, though Tesla is still in negative year-to-date territory.

The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.3% as other mega-cap names lag, contributing to the underperformance of the market-weighted S&P 500 (-0.2%) relative to the S&P 500 Equal Weighted Index (+0.2%).
