[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.9%), Nasdaq Composite (+1.2%), and DJIA (+0.4%) remain at session highs with just half an hour left in the session.
After some early choppiness, oil prices steadily moved lower throughout the afternoon, with WTI crude oil futures settling today's session $1.77 lower (-1.9%) at $89.33 per barrel. Positive headlines around improved export flows from the Middle East continue to offset a lack of diplomatic progress between the U.S. and Iran.
Notably, the retreat in oil prices provided little relief to Treasury yields, with the 10-year note yield still settling three basis points higher at 5.31%. Stocks have largely shrugged off the continued rate pressure, however, maintaining their advance into the final stretch of the session.
