[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages are now slightly lower for the session.

The financials sector (flat) is little changed this morning, with some early volatility among major banks following the release of their Q3 earnings reports.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM 336.96, +2.66, +0.80%) is trading higher after reporting solid revenue growth, supported by expanding loan and deposit balances, stronger fee income, and robust equity trading activity. The bank also provided an encouraging preliminary outlook for FY27 net interest income, although rising expenses and some moderation in capital markets activity remain considerations.

Goldman Sachs (GS 902.99, +9.04, +1.01%) is also trading higher after comfortably exceeding earnings expectations, with revenue climbing 23% yr/yr. Strong equity trading and investment banking activity drove the results, while growth in asset and wealth management provided additional support. However, softer fixed-income trading activity and higher operating expenses tempered some of the positive developments.
