Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (flat) is now on the defensive, needing a modest boost to capture a record closing high to go along with today's record intraday level. The Nasdaq Composite (+0.5%) continues to outperform, while the DJIA (-0.6%) is plotting session lows. 

Though the health care sector (+0.7%) has ceded nearly half of its earlier gain, AbbVie (ABBV 229.26, +5.33, +2.38%) remains a strong performer, with The Wall Street Journal reporting the company is in discussions to purchase Revolution Medicines (RVMD 83.86, +4.01, +5.02%).
