[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.1%), Nasdaq Composite (+0.5%), and DJIA (-0.4%) are mixed just before midday amid a relatively quiet session marked more by its reversal of some of yesterday's trends than any new developments.
Perhaps most notably, breadth figures and sector strength skew to the negative, though solid performances across some of the market's largest names keep things muted at the index level. Decliners outpace advancers by a nearly 2-to-1 ratio on the NYSE and a slimmer 6-to-5 clip on the Nasdaq, while just four S&P 500 sectors trade higher.
However, the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is up a solid 0.8% (the ETF advanced just 0.3% during yesterday's broad advance), helping the market-weighted S&P 500 (+0.1%) outperform the S&P 500 Equal Weighted Index (-0.7%).
Smaller-cap names are also seeing a reversal of yesterday's trend, with the Russell 2000 (-0.5%) and S&P Mid Cap 400 (-0.7%) both facing some selling pressure after logging gains wider than 1.0% yesterday.
