[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to trade in a mixed fashion at midday, though it is worth noting that the DJIA (-0.6%) has shed a considerable chunk of its earlier loss. 

Boeing (BA 253.02, +4.58, +1.85%) can take some credit for the improvement, now trading with a solid gain after reversing a loss of a similar size. The company reported its fiscal Q4 report, with investors looking past a messy core EPS figure and focusing on sharply higher revenue, improving operational momentum, and a constructive tone from management. Core EPS was distorted by a $9.6 billion gain related to the sale of the Digital Aviation Solutions business, which increased EPS by $11.83, making comparisons to consensus less meaningful.

Elsewhere, NVIDIA (NVDA 189.60, +3.13, +1.68%) holds a similar gain after briefly trading in negative territory this year.
