Mega-caps outperform amid broader weakness
Dow -7.28 at 46134.93, Nasdaq +35.77 at 22506.50, S&P +1.23 at 6633.18

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 and DJIA have retreated to their flatlines, while the Nasdaq Composite (+0.2%) clings to a modest gain for the day.

Only the consumer discretionary (+0.4%) and information technology (+0.3%) trade in positive territory, though the gains are concentrated enough in some of the market's largest names to prevent losses at the index level.

The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF holds a decent 0.4% gain, contributing to the market-weighted S&P 500's (flat) outperformance over the S&P 500 Equal Weighted Index (-0.4%).

Apple (AAPL 242.68, +4.80, +2.02%) is one of the mega-caps trading higher after launching its iPhone 17 lineup today, with early signs pointing to strong demand, especially for the high-end Pro models. Long lines were reported across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, signaling strong consumer interest despite macro and competitive headwinds.
