The S&P 500 currently trades flat, while the DJIA (+0.6%) outperforms and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (-0.2%) lags.
The information technology sector (-0.5%) is unsurprisingly a laggard this morning, with NVIDIA (NVDA 170.29, -4.59, -2.62%) moving lower on reports that China has asked its companies to stop purchasing NVIDIA chips.
In the consumer discretionary sector (-0.5%), Tesla (TSLA 415.12, -6.50, -1.54%) and Amazon (AMZN 231.44, -2.61, -1.12%) give back the bulk of yesterday's gains that saw them finish among the best-performing mega-cap names.
The Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF is down 0.4% in the early going after performing in line with the broader market yesterday.
Meanwhile, the nine other S&P 500 sectors trade higher, with gains ranging from 0.1% in the communication services sector to 1.1% in the consumer staples sector.
