[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market's broad-based opening advance saw the S&P 500 (+0.5%) and DJIA (+0.9%) capture fresh record highs, while the Nasdaq Composite (+0.4%) is also in range of its own record level.
Nine S&P 500 sectors trade above their baselines, though none hold gains wider than 0.8%. Only the communication services (-0.1%) sector trades slightly lower.
This morning's economic data saw a sharp 27,000 increase in initial jobless claims, which bolstered the expectations for further rate cuts in October and December, despite the market also receiving a slightly hotter than expected August CPI report (0.4%; Briefing.com consensus: 0.3%).
U.S. Treasury yields are also on the move, with the 10-year note yield briefly dipping below 4.00% after the data releases.
