[BRIEFING.COM] It has been a good month for the major indices-- very good for some, like the Russell 2000 (+6.9%). This week, though, has been less good, which isn't the same as saying it has been bad.
To wit: the Russell 2000 is up 0.2%; the S&P 500 and S&P MidCap 400 are down 0.1%; the Nasdaq Composite is down 0.2%; and the Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 0.3%.
For the indices with week-to-date losses, it should be noted that they have all stemmed from today's action, which has been accented so far by a lack of concerted leadership and a lack of buying conviction in front of the extended weekend.
Sector action is mixed, with six sectors up, sporting gains from 0.2% to 0.6%, and five sectors down, showing losses that range from 0.2% to 1.7%.
