Consumer discretionary sector faces pressure
Dow -126.80 at 44795.47, Nasdaq -392.51 at 20921.06, S&P -63.56 at 6347.81

[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-1.0%), Nasdaq Composite (-1.9%), and DJIA (-0.3%) chart new session lows as mega-cap names continue to drag the major averages down.

The Vanguard Mega-Cap Growth ETF is down 1.9% today, widening its week-to-date loss to 3.4%.

The consumer discretionary sector (-1.5%) faces pressure in the majority of its components. Losses in Tesla (TSLA 315.89, -13.42, -4.08%) send the stock below its 50-day moving average (321.22), while Amazon (AMZN 221.74, -6.28, -2.75%) slips beneath its own 50-day moving average (222.01).

TJX (TJX 140.86, +6.24, +4.64%) captures a nice gain after beating EPS expectations by $0.09, beating on revenues, and raising its FY26 EPS and comp guidance. Lowe's (LOW 257.65, +1.29, +0.50%) also holds a modest gain after an earnings beat of its own, but so far this week, upbeat earnings have held little weight against mega-cap weakness.
