[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (-0.1%), DJIA (+0.3%), and Nasdaq Composite (-0.4%) opened in a mixed fashion following a sideways trade yesterday.
Eight S&P 500 sectors trade in positive territory, though early losses in mega-cap names within the communication services (-0.9%) and information technology (-0.5%) sectors keep the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite in negative territory.
Meta Platforms (META 758.03, -9.34, -1.22%) continues its slide from yesterday, and an early loss in Alphabet (GOOG 201.94, -2.36, -1.15%) widens the communication services sector's loss to 1.7% for the week.
Meanwhile, the real estate sector (+1.2%) captures a nice early gain, and the consumer staples sector (+0.9%) continues to trade higher as the market anticipates earnings reports from several of its largest components this week.
The DJIA is an early beneficiary of this week's earnings, as Home Depot (HD 412.25, +17.55, +4.45%) trades higher after missing EPS expectations by $0.04 but reaffirming FY26 EPS and revenue guidance.
