Stock Market Update

[BRIEFING.COM] While the S&P 500 (+0.4%) and Nasdaq Composite (+0.3%) have the headline benefit of new all-time highs, the DJIA (+0.9%) is outperforming its peers today and now sits just 0.5% below a record high of its own. 

NVIDIA (NVDA 181.48, -1.68, -0.91%), the information technology sector (+0.3%), still holds a modest gain for the day, and the PHLX Semiconductor Index is up 0.6%, with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 185.09, +10.14, +5.80%) an early standout. 

Weakness in NVIDIA and sluggishness across other mega-cap names has the Vanguard Mega Cap Growth ETF up just 0.2% in the early going. Meanwhile, the Russell 2000 continues its impressive rally, holding a 1.0% gain today that pushes its week-to-date gains to 3.9%.
