[BRIEFING.COM] Today's stock market opening was the best of the week so far, with the major averages trading in the green and the S&P 500 up 0.7%.
Seven sectors opened to early gains, led by the technology sector (+1.2%) as top component NVIDIA (NVDA 164.05, +4.05, +2.5%) shows early strength as it eclipses $4 trillion in market cap, while Microsoft (MSFT 504.86, +8.24, +1.7%) recovers from yesterday's weakness.
The consumer discretionary sector (+0.9%) is also showing early strength due in part to Amazon (AMZN 223.44, +4.08, +1.9%), which slid yesterday amid reports that initial Prime Day sales were down.
