The information technology sector (+0.4%) is among the top-performing S&P 500 sectors thus far, with strong leadership coming from NVIDIA (NVDA 178.32, +2.80, +1.6%) as the stock approaches yesterday's all-time high level of $179.38. Though the stock reached a new record yesterday, a late morning sell-off saw it close with a modest loss for the day.
Chipmakers as a cohort are performing well this morning, with the PHLX Semiconductor Index up 1.2%. Super Micro Computer (SMCI 61.60, +2.97, +5.1%) is an early standout, as this mornings's advance pushes the stock to a 101.2% year-to-date gain
Elsewhere in the technology sector, Microsoft (MSFT 513.34, +0.78, +0.2%) trades slightly higher ahead of its earnings report after the close.
