[BRIEFING.COM] The major indices have stabilized at least momentarily from their late morning slide, with the DJIA down 0.5%, the Nasdaq Composite down 0.1%, and the S&P 500 down 0.2%.

Several Dow components face pressure today after releasing Q2 earnings before the open today.

Boeing (BA 227.65, -8.76, -3.71%) faces some sell-the-news pressure after beating EPS expectations by $0.16 and reporting increased revenues after seeing increased production rates for its 737 and 787 programs.

Merck (MRK 80.80, -3.26, -3.88%) also faces selling pressure despite an earnings beat of $0.11, in-line revenues, and above-consensus FY25 EPS guidance.

Meanwhile, UnitedHealth (UNH 267.37, -14.75, -5.23%) trades lower today after missing EPS expectations by $0.40 and reporting revenues in-line. The company also guided FY25 EPS and revenues below consensus.

The latter two companies exacerbate losses in the health care sector (-0.5%) today, which is among the laggards.
