[BRIEFING.COM] The major averages are maintaining their early gains, with the S&P 500 less than ten points away from yesterday's record level.
The consumer discretionary sector (+0.4%) is the strongest performer so far, bolstered by a nice gain in Deckers Outdoor (DECK 119.16, +14.22, +13.6%) after the company reported an EPS beat of $0.25 while revenue rose a robust 16.9% year-over-year to $964.5 mln, well ahead of the $890-910 million prior guidance.
Also, its in-line Q2 (Sep) guidance was a nice change from several recent quarters where DECK provided downside guidance. This has caused the stock to be under pressure since late January.
Tesla (TSLA 313.72, +8.42, +2.8%) also rebounds slightly from yesterday's poor performance following the company's cautious earnings call, which saw the stock close with a loss of 8.2%.
