Dow lags major averages despite 250-point gain; Verizon, Nike, Home Depot lead, AmEx slips

[BRIEFING.COM] The Dow Jones Industrial Average (+0.57%) is up 250 points, but at the bottom of the major averages, as we see more aggressive gains elsewhere.
A look inside the DJIA shows that Verizon (VZ 43.03, +2.19, +5.36%), Nike (NKE 74.73, +2.26, +3.12%), and Home Depot (HD 364.51, +5.11, +1.42%) are some of today's top gainers.
Meanwhile, American Express (AXP 305.19, -2.76, -0.90%) is one of only a few stocks in the average in negative territory.
The DJIA is now +6.22% higher off the late-June lows.
