Dow sinks Friday, led lower by 3M, AmEx, Merck
Dow -226.02 at 44258.47, Nasdaq -2.01 at 20882.26, S&P -7.27 at 6290.09

[BRIEFING.COM] The Dow Jones Industrial Average (-0.51%) is in last place on Friday afternoon, down more than 225 points.

A look inside the DJIA shows that 3M (MMM 151.14, -7.90, -4.97%), American Express (AXP 307.14, -8.21, -2.60%), and Merck (MRK 80.15, -1.37, -1.68%) are firmly lower.

Meanwhile, Travelers (TRV 266.05, +4.24, +1.62%) continues recent momentum higher.

The DJIA is poised to end the week with -0.25% losses.

Elsewhere, at the top of the hour, Baker Hughes (BKR 39.30, +0.12, +0.31%) announced a weekly U.S. rotary rig count of 544, +7 w/w and -42 yr/yr.
