Regional banks trade higher
Dow +196.16 at 44450.94, Nasdaq +159.20 at 20889.69, S&P +29.25 at 6292.95

[BRIEFING.COM] The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (+0.7%) leads the major averages, though the S&P 500 (+0.5%) and the DJIA (+0.4%) also trade near their best levels of the session. 

The financials sector (+0.5%) continues to benefit from constituents reporting EPS above expectations this week, with regional banks fueling strength today.

The KRE Regional Banking ETF is up 1.5% today as a result.

Citizens Financial Group (CFG 48.74, +1.76, +3.8%) is up today following earnings, while U.S. Bancorp (USB 45.00, -0.68, -1.48%) and Fifth Third (FITB 42.30, -0.76, -1.75%) face some sell-the-news pressure after beating EPS expectations. 

Yesterday's reporters included Goldman Sachs (GS 711.87, +3.05, +0.4%), Morgan Stanley (MS 140.86, +1.07, +0.8%), and Bank of America (BAC 46.56, +0.52, +1.1%), which as a cohort are performing well despite facing selling pressure yesterday.
