Chipmakers are driving the opening gains, as NVIDIA (NVDA 169.88, +5.80, +3.5%) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 156.03, +9.79, +6.7%) are both set to resume chip sales in China.
The news has been supplemented by reports that Alphabet (GOOG 183.64, +0.83, +0.5%) plans to invest $25 billion in data center AI infrastructure, while CoreWeave (CRWV 142.50, +10.12, +7.65%) is planning to invest up to $6 billion in AI data centers.
The PHLX Semiconductor Index is up 1.6%, and the technology sector is the only sector currently trading in the green.
