[BRIEFING.COM] The stock market started the Thursday session with a slight gain, but it quickly found resistance near yesterday's session highs. The S&P 500 (-0.2%) and Nasdaq (-0.2%) hold comparable losses while the Dow (-0.3%) underperforms slightly.
Ten sectors are among the early decliners with consumer staples (-0.9%) and the consumer discretionary sector (-0.7%) leading to the downside while communication services (+0.5%), energy (unch), and materials (-0.1%) outperform.
Treasuries trade a bit below their early highs with the 10-yr yield down two basis points at 4.35%.
