Jobless claims rise; trade deficit narrows; Q1 productivity revised lower

The S&P 500 futures trade five points above fair value.

The latest weekly Initial Jobless Claims count reached 247,000 (Briefing.com consensus 235,000), up from a revised 239,000 (from 240,000) a week ago. Continuing claims hit 1.904 million while last week's reading was revised to 1.907 million from 1.919 million.

April Trade Balance showed a deficit of $61.6 billion (Briefing.com consensus -$117.2 billion) while the March deficit was revised to $138.3 billion from $140.5 billion.

Q1 Productivity was revised to -1.5% (Briefing.com consensus -0.8%) from -0.8% in the preliminary reading while Q1 Unit Labor Costs were revised to 6.6% (Briefing.com consensus 5.7%) from 5.7% in the preliminary reading.
