[BRIEFING.COM] The market has faced some recent pressure, which has sent the major averages back to their flat lines after they showed resistance to early selling.

Even with the recent retreat from highs, the energy sector (-1.9%) is one of just two groups with a loss wider than 0.4%. Crude oil has contributed to the weakness, as it falls $0.81, or 1.3%, to $62.62/bbl, reaching a session low after the weekly inventory report from the EIA showed a bigger than expected crude oil draw while gasoline inventories showed a much bigger than expected increase.

With today's loss, the energy sector has narrowed this week's gain to 0.5%.
