[BRIEFING.COM] The S&P 500 (+0.3%) started the day on a higher note, extending this week's gain to 0.4% while the Nasdaq (+0.3%) outperforms slightly, and is now up 1.0% for the week.
Ten sectors are among the early advancers with energy (+0.7%), real estate (+0.6%), industrials (+0.5%), and financials (+0.5%) in the lead while the heath care sector (-0.5%) is the lone decliner in the early going, continuing this week's underperformance (-2.7% week-to-date).
Treasuries started the day in the red, inching up off their lows after Fed Governor Waller said that a July rate cut is a possibility. The 10-yr yield is up two basis points at 4.42%.
Just reported, the Leading Economic Index was down 0.1% in May (Briefing.com consensus -0.1%) after falling a revised 1.4% (from 1.0%) in April.
