Six sectors trade in the green with energy (+0.9%) and utilities (+0.9%) defending their strong start to the day. The energy sector outperforms with all but three components trading higher even though crude oil holds a modest loss (-0.26, or -0.4%, to $73.24/bbl). Natural gas company EQT Corp (EQT 60.71, +1.34, +2.26%) is the leading performer in the growth-sensitive sector despite a falling price of natural gas, as natural gas futures tagged their best level since early April before reversing into negative territory (-0.06, or -1.5%, to $3.93/MMBtu).
Treasuries trade at their best levels of the session with the 10-yr yield at 4.39% while the 30-yr yield remains up one basis point at 4.91%.
